Read the "Aloha from Hawai'i via Satellite Day" Proclamation
January 15, 2013
In honor of the king's groundbreaking performances in 1973, the governor of Hawaii Neil Abercrombie declared January 14, 2013, as "Elvis, Aloha from Hawai'i via Satellite Day." The governor made the announcement at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center last night during the 40th anniversary celebration. "Aloha from Hawaii" returned to the same place for a one-night only enhanced screening celebrating the concert seen by over a billion people worldwide. The anniversary screening featured re-mastered video projected on multiple screens recreating the thrill of being there 40 years ago to the day. "Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite" helped raise over $75,000 for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund and aired in more than 40 countries via satellite. Fans from around the world gathered in Hawaii, one of Elvis' favorite places to film, perform and vacation, for the 40th Anniversary of "Aloha From Hawaii."
